LOCATION

Fenton Farm is situated between two rural villages in the heart of the old clay mining industry with 75 acres of moor land directly adjoining the farm. Although very rural the farm is just a 10 minute drive from the A30 running through the centre of Cornwall, this makes the whole of Cornwall easily accessible.

ACCOMMODATION

Fenton Farm is more 'rustic charm' than designer chic'. It will appeal to those guests who appreciate the natural environment, wellingtons at the back door, damp spaniels, inquisitive cats and the sound of owls in the night.

The accommodation is self contained in the adjoining Old Mill where grain was once turned into food for the horses who continued to be used in the industry until 1949. Horses still live at Fenton Farm but these have a much easier lifestyle than their predecessors The Old Mill has a double bed and an en-suite bathroom. Free-view satellite television is installed and the stable doors open onto a generous raised patio with comfortable seating and table and chairs for alfresco dining with gas barbecue.

Also available is accommodation in a converted Edwardian Railway Carriage which arrived at the Farm in 1927 to house the farmers six sons. The carriage now has a comfortable double bedroom, sitting room with satellite TV, galley kitchen and ensuite shower room and wc. Available on a bed and breakfast basis or by arrangement as self catering. Guests have the use of a summer house and the carriage is situated in its own garden. Please call for details.

Breakfast is served in the main farmhouse and where ever possible fresh local produce is used. Eggs come from the farm's own chickens, bacon from a nearby farm, and bread is baked daily. Evening meals can be provided, again using fresh local ingredients. Afternoon cream teas with home made scones, Cornish clotted cream and local strawberry jam are a special treat.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

Surrounded by moorland re-claimed from the clay industry with 75 acres immediately on our doorstep, this is now home to a wide variety of wildlife including deer, foxes, badgers, rabbits, buzzards, ravens, Canada Geese, plus many other species.

There are various pubs/restaurants within a short drive with the nearest major town being St Austell with Newquay and Bodmin not much further. Your hosts, David and Ros Owens have lived and worked in the area for over thirty years and will be delighted to assist with any help guests might need in planning their itinerary.
