Mayon Farmhouse is a family run guest house, which was built in 1851 and was originally a large mixed farm with land reaching out towards Lands End and down to the cliff tops at Sennen Cove. Once used as a meadery it has since been converted into a spacious and comfortable home with a wealth of original features.
Our pretty rooms have either en-suite or private shower rooms, sea views or beautiful sunsets over the countryside. All have colour television, tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits and central heating. A large comfortable visitors sitting room makes a relaxing retreat with woodburning open fires offering a warm welcome for those romantic winter breaks. A spacious dining area with a wide choice of delicious Aga cooked breakfasts. Where possible our produce is either home made or locally produced in Cornwall. Vegetarian and special diets can be catered for.
Picnics and packed lunches available by prior arrangement and ideal for Minack visits or coastal walks.
The conservatory is available for guests use. The garden beyond the conservatory has tables and chairs for use on sunny days, and where afternoon Cornish Cream Teas can be served.
Mayon Farmhouse is strictly a non smoking establishment.
Children from the age of 8 years welcome.
The West Cornwall coast offers some of the most spectacular walking in the British Isles, the coast path undulating from the towering granite cliffs to tiny coves and fishing villages. All year round there is much to attract those interested in wildlife, from the little alpine plants thriving among the rocky outcrops to the variety of sea birds, both native and those visiting during the winter months, sometimes quite by accident having been blown of their natural course. Knowledgeable enthusiasts keen to impart information to those interested man an R.S.P.B. lookout at Lands End. The farmhouse is situated close to the coastal footpath, it is just 1½ miles level walk to Lands End, and a 10 minute walk to Sennen Cove beach. This has rock pools, a beautiful sandy beach and some of the best surfing in Cornwall.
There is a wide variety of local restaurants catering for all requirements from family meals to romantic evenings for two. Booking is essential for some venues during busy summer months.
