The Situation

Those seeking refuge from lifes pressures have been escaping to Stratton Gardens for many years.
The property is a charming, listed 16th century house once owned by the Church and run as a retreat for the clergy.  Today, it is a small, comfortable hotel offering five well appointed, distinctively furnished bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities.
The resident proprietors take great pleasure in running Stratton Gardens . Having escaped from the pressures of corporate life, they now seek to offer the best traditional comforts, personal service and a warm welcome.

The Accommodation

The Hotels accommodation includes five en-suite bedrooms, each with a colour television, tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryers.

There are two comfortable lounges and you can look forward to a crackling log fire in winter.  In the licensed candlelit restaurant, great pride is taken in producing freshly prepared dishes using West Country produce.  The menu offers you a choice ranging from the traditional to more innovative fare and includes locally farmed meat, fresh Cornish fish and a vegetarian option.

For the comfort of others, smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the hotel or restaurant.  The aim is to create a restful environment, and regretfully accommodation is not available for children under 12 years.

The hotel has attractive, secluded rear gardens which guests are welcome to enjoy.  For those with horticultural interests the RHS gardens at Rosemoor are about 40 minutes drive and a number of other famous West Country Gardens are also with in easy reach.

Local attractions:

Nestling in the historic town of Stratton, the hotel is situated in a quiet conservation area.  A mile or so distant are Budes lovely beaches, and nearby is some of the most magnificent coastal scenery in Britain, with rugged cliffs and colourful headlands.  Hidden coves and clean, sandy beaches abound, and you can enjoy some wonderful walking on the coastal path.  Bude offers a range of activities including, tennis, bowls, squash, horse riding and fishing.  Bordering the town is the demanding 18 hole links course of the Bude and North Cornwall Golf Club, and a number of other golf courses are within easy reach.

Within a few miles of Stratton Gardens hotel, in this special, unhurried part of the West Country, youll find many interesting places to visit.

Drive South to explore the picture book fishing villages of Port Isaac and Pot Quinn, with their narrow winding streets, or the Victorian harbour at Boscastle, or King Arthurs Castle and Merlins Cave at Tintagel.

To the North lose yourself in the wild freedom of Harland and the old world charm of Clovelly, with its cottages tumbling down cobble streets to the 14th century harbour.  Venture inland, and the National Parks of Dartmoor, Bodmin Moor and Exmoor are readily accessible.
