The Situation
Carnethic House is without doubt one of the most delightful small hotels in Cornwall, let alone Fowey. A warm welcome with the very highest standards of accommodation will make you feel at home right from the start.

While you won't find white-tied waiters or deferential doormen, you will find real comfort, courtesy & helpfulness at a very reasonable cost.

The hotel is a large old Georgian Estate House that has been completely modernised, although great care has been taken to retain as much as possible its grand character.

The rooms are all centrally heated, have colour television, and tea and coffee making facilities. Most rooms are en-suite and all have showers. The beds are deluxe quality interior sprung to ensure a restful nights sleep, the interior decoration to quote many a guest  " just beautiful..."

The Accommodation

Recently refurbished to very high standards, Carnethic provides gracious accommodation that combines comfort and style. Bedrooms are centrally heated, most with shower en-suite and all with colour television and tea/coffee makers. There is also a licensed bar.
Outdoor facilities include an inviting heated swimming pool plus ample parking for both cars and boats. You can play badminton, putt around the lawns, or just sit and relax around the gardens. All our breakfasts are freshly prepared using local produce wherever possible.

Modern Comforts and Old Fashioned Standards
Our hotel is for those who appreciate the better things of life and standards that are all too often forgotten elsewhere. Begin your carefree holiday in style and relaxation right from the outset by choosing Carnethic House for this year's stay.

Outside our lovely maintained gardens are surrounded by mature trees and shrubs ensuring lots of space to sit and enjoy the peaceful rural tranquillity. If you feel more energetic try a swim in our heated pool or perhaps a game of lawn tennis, badminton, putting or croquet on the lawn.

Just a short walk through the gardens a leafy lane winds it's way down to the beach, then along the seafront into the town with it's many restaurants and busy quay. Other walks take along the cliffs and coastal paths with it's beautiful seascapes.

The world famous Eden Project is a short drive away, tickets and guided tours are available from the hotel.

At Carnethic we serve a true traditional English breakfast and all our food is prepared under the personal supervision of your hosts Paul and Marion Allison. The atmosphere is informal, friendly and courteous; and all that is expected of you is that you have the kind of holiday that you want and enjoy. So if you would like to go riding, play golf, have a fishing trip arranged or need some advice on local attractions, beaches or scenic walks all you need do is ask,- we shall be delighted to help.

Summer ~ Winter ~ Spring
Winters in Cornwall are generally very mild. The flowers bloom early in the New Year and are beautiful. One of the country's most beautiful National Trust properties, Lanhydrock House is only 15 minutes drive and should not be missed. Also close by are the 'Lost Gardens of Heligan' famous after being featured on BBC TV. We are open from February to November inclusive and offer a range of 'Off Season Breaks'. Local attractions:
Fowey could hardly have a more lovely or climatically kinder natural setting, yet for all that it is uncommercialised and unspoilt. Fowey has a long and interesting history, charming cottages, quaint streets and sheltered coves that overlook a magnificent waterfront and a safe anchorage for shoals of brightly coloured boats.

Fowey offers an excellent selection of restaurants and outdoor activities; you can enjoy the excitement of shark fishing from nearby Looe or the more peaceful 'feathering' for mackerel from Fowey itself. In addition to the internationally famous Daphne Du Maurier Arts Festival there are always numerous other events taking place, so there's bound to be something of interest to you during your stay.

There are a number of excellent walks including the famous 'Hall Walk' along the Fowey River between the Boddinick Ferry and Polruan. The Cornish Coastal path is easily reached from Carnethic House.

The proprietors are members of several local Golf Clubs and if you would while to play during your stay will make all the necessary arrangements on your behalf.
