The Situation

Pencarmol, with its superlative view of the picturesque fishing harbour of Boscastle, is thought to have been the former residence of the Harbour Master.

The Accommodation
The Georgian Grade II listed building is 300 years old and has been tastefully restored and lovingly maintained by its present owners, Sheila and Graham Murphy.

It now offers guests a high standard of bed and breakfast accommodation, well in excess of Cornish Tourist Board requirements.

All three bedrooms face the harbour, each having its own individual charm and wonderful panoramic view.

Many guests enjoy simply sitting by their windows to watch the activities in the harbour and the ever changing restless sea.

Each bedroom has

  • en-suite shower room
  • colour television and radio
  • hairdryer
  • hospitality tray.
One bedroom has a king-sized bed and the others each have a full size double bed. 

Guests are welcome to use the pretty sitting room as a peaceful haven between activities.

Outside, the terraced garden, with its patios and seating places, offers fine views of the harbour.

Regret no pets or smokers allowed.

THE GROCKLE - a 'net loft' which has been converted to a high modern standard and is all on one level.  Sleeps up to 3 people.

TURNSTONES - one of a small terrace of fisherman's cottages built in the early 1700's. Sleeps up to 6 people.
TREVETH - another fishman's cottage built in the early 1700's modernised to give a very high standard of comfort all year round.  Sleeps up to 6 people

Directions

Boscastle is situated on the North Cornish Coast.

There is good motorway access to the West Country as far as Exeter from where the main A30 provides a dual carriageway link to Launceston.

Boscastle is then just a short drive from Launceston.

Guests arriving by rail can be met at Bodmin Parkway station, by arrangement.

Local Attractions:

Boscastle harbour and headlands [with their glorious sunsets] have been owned by the National Trust since 1956 and as a result, remain unspoilt - a tranquil haven in today's busy world.

The village has many buildings dating back several centuries and visitors can spend time exploring the old streets, standing on the ancient castle site, shopping in the local gift and antique shops and seeing the Museum of Witchcraft.

Pencarmol is adjacent to the Coastal Path where cliffs, ranging from soft rolling ascents to the majestic sentinels standing guard against the Atlantic Ocean, offer spectacular vistas.

Inland is the beautiful Valency Valley with gentle walking by the side of a river to some lovely and ancient churches.

Cornwall is world famous for its beaches for sand castle makers, sun-worshippers and surfers. All kinds of beaches are within a short distance by car or bus or even on foot. Strangles Beach, just to the north of Boscastle, is wild and secluded but a steep climb must be undertaken first.

Other activities available include horse riding, golf, sailing, fishing and bird watching.
