About Marazion
Marazion is situated on the south coast of Cornwall near Penzance. From here you can explore the world famous St.Michaels Mount, you can access the maunt and its castle via the cobbled walkway at low tide and at high tide there is a ferry/water taxi service. (The mount is National Trust) Marazion itself is a very pretty little village steeped in local history.
Remains of an ancient bronze furnace, discovered near the town, tend to prove that tin smelting was practised here at an early period. Marazion is one of the towns claiming to be Britain's oldest town.[citation needed] Marazion was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1088 and is the oldest chartered town in Britain, having been granted this status by King Henry III in 1257.
